Driver Goes On Rampage Through Wal-Mart Chasing Couple

Almost everyone knows that they can happen anytime and almost anywhere. No one, however, expects to have to avoid an oncoming vehicle when they are in the relative safety of a store.

One woman in San Angelo, Texas just narrowly escaped being struck by a pickup truck while she was inside her local Wal-Mart.

According to a story which aired on the CBS Local station in Miami on June 28th, local law enforcement in San Angelo were dispatched to the Walmart Supercenter located at 5501 Sherwood Way.

Several witnesses who were either shoppers or employees of the store indicated that the man who crashed his pickup truck into the store, Caleb Wilson, had been in the store prior to the incident. Wilson was reportedly behaving in an erratic manner. An unidentified 18-year-old female and another patron left the store together. It was there that the woman and Wilson got into an argument outside in the store’s parking lot.

Store surveillance video shows a pickup truck allegedly being driven by Wilson crashing through the store’s glass doors and striking display end caps as it progressed to the rear of the business.

Wilson continued to drive through the store and narrowly missed hitting the young woman and the patron. He then drove his 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck back outside of the Walmart store just as police were arriving at the scene.

Police attempted to stop Wilson who drove his vehicle around the parking lot at a high rate of speed and struck a 2007 Toyota Camry that was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Police were finally able to stop and apprehend Wilson near a Murphy USA gas station. Wilson appeared to be slightly delirious and briefly attempted to resist arrest. He was taken to Shannon Medical Center for evaluation.

Authorities have stated that charges against Wilson are currently pending. He is expected to potentially face a number of charges including First Degree Felony Criminal Mischief as well as two counts of Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon.

It is estimated that Wilson caused $500,000 of damage to the Walmart store. The location will likely have to be closed while repairs to the store are made.
