Cyclist Struck By Box Truck, Pinned Under Vehicle

Accidents involving commercial trucks can end up being severe; especially when another smaller vehicle is involved.  Even though a passenger vehicle can move quicker than a box truck or a big rig can, a truck can easily outweigh a passenger vehicle – or a bicycle.

That seems to be what happened when a woman was riding her bike along Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast Eighth Street in Miami on Wednesday, November 27th.  According to a report filed by WSVN Channel 7 in Miami’s Craig Stevens,  the woman had been riding her bicycle near the intersection when the woman and the truck collided.

In a statement, officials said that the bicyclist was struck by a box truck owned by an unidentified area business and became pinned under the vehicle.  Channel 7’s 7Skyforce was sent to the accident site where emergency crews could be seen attempting to free the woman out from under the box truck.

The female bicyclist was eventually freed by paramedics and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries which included a broken finger and fractured rib.  No further information has been released regarding the woman’s identity or her current condition.

According to Miami Police Department officials, the accident is still currently under investigation.
