A Double Motorcycle Crash Results In One Dead. Charges Have Not Yet Been Filed.
A tragic crash involving two motorcyclists has ended in the death of one man and the injury of another late last month in Pembroke Pines.
CBS Local in Miami reports that the incident happened in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 24th, when 22-year-old Daniel Sanchez Aguillar was riding his motorcycle. He was heading eastbound on Sheridan Street when, suddenly, Aguilar’s motorcycle collided with that of 19-year-old Jamal Corleto. Corleto was also traveling eastbound on Sheridan.
Investigators say that the collision happened in the area of Sheridan and 169th Avenue. When Aguilar crashed into Corleto’s motorcycle, both of them were thrown off of their vehicles.
A spokesperson for the Pembroke Police Department said in a statement that emergency crews were called to the scene, but Aguillar reportedly died at the scene as a result of injuries he suffered in the crash.
Corleto was transported by ambulance to Memorial Regional Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries. No further information regarding Carleto’s condition was released by the time of the report.
According to a statement issued by the Pembroke Police, the accident is still currently under investigation. It is unclear if either driver had been driving while under the influence before the accident. However, so far, no charges have been made in the case. Though Aguilar, sadly, died in the accident, police say that they may still charge Corleto. Whether or not the police file charges will depend upon the outcome of the investigation.
