Woman Charged With DUI, Possible Hit And Run

Most people who have drank too much when they were younger can recall a time when they don’t remember what happened the next morning. If we’re lucky, all we did was something embarrassing. But sometimes the results can be deadly.

The Sun-Sentinel reported a woman from Hollywood was arrested and accused of driving under the influence and getting into two crashes in a seven-minute span. One of the crashes was a fatal hit and run.

The first fatal crash happened in the 200 block of Northwest 31st Avenue in Pompano Beach, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The second crash happened between two cars at Northwest 10th Court and Northwest 23rd Terrace.

When police came to arrest the driver, both she and her passenger tried to run away from the accident. The driver was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, failure to register a vehicle, and no valid driver’s license.

The police will perform toxicology tests to see if the driver was under the influence at the time of the crashes. Our sincere condolences go out to the family of the slain pedestrian. If this driver is the responsible party, we hope they can seek justice.
