Video Reveals Truck Crashing Into Airport

Recently released surveillance video shows a truck ramming into the car rental area at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport on Thursday, December 19th, just before 3:00 a.m.

The NBC affiliate station in Miami reported on its website that the video shows a white, four-door GMC Sierra pickup truck as it crashes into the building at a high rate of speed, coming to an abrupt stop as it hit the National Car Rental counter inside the airport terminal.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pickup truck can also be seen from the surveillance video taken from the airport’s baggage claim area before it rolls into the car rental center.

Authorities have identified the driver as 40-year-old Juan Monsivis, who was seriously injured in the accident. No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Monsivis was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment and is still currently in the hospital. His current condition has not been released.

The Florida Highway Patrol and the Sarasota Police Department are still investigating the crash. So far, they are uncertain what may have caused Monsivis to crash into the building.  Authorities have not said if impairment may have played a role in the accident or whether Monsivis might be facing any charges.
