Seven Joyriders Steal Car, Now Two Are Dead And Five Are Injured
A vehicle that was stolen by a group of seven adolescents aged 12 -14 has ended in tragedy on Monday leaving five of the youths injured and claiming the lives of two others.
As reported on the NBC Miami Website, Broward County Sheriff’s Office Deputies say that the incident occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m. in the 1100 block of NW 15th Street in Pompano Beach. The driver of the stolen vehicle was heading westbound on Northwest 15th Street when they lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and flipped over several times before landing on its roof on the CSX railroad tracks.
The group of teens consisted of one boy and six girls. One of the teens was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident while the second teen died at Broward Health Medical Center as the result of the injuries she sustained in the crash. The deceased are identified as Chayanna Nesmith, 12, and Anacshia Johnson, 13. One of the other teens is a sister to Nesmith. All of the teens involved in the incident attended Pompano Beach Middle School and were friends.
Broward County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is still investigating the fatal crash.
