Infant Injured at Daycare, Child Fine

A 2-month-old baby was injured when he was dropped during an altercation at a south Miami-Dade daycare Monday, police said.

The infant received minor injuries during the event and was taken by a helicopter to Miami Children’s Hospital as a precaution for treatment. Police spokespersons say, however, that the child is expected to recover fully after his uncle who was carrying him was pushed by another man.

Miami Dade Police say that the incident began when the uncle went to Wiz Kidz Learning 2, at 9934 W. Hibiscus St., to pick up his nephew.

While picking up his nephew, he encountered his ex-girlfriend, and the two proceeded to argue. The woman’s current boyfriend got involved in the altercation.

During the argument, the current boyfriend pushed the ex-boyfriend – who was carrying the baby at the time. The man and infant then fell to the ground.

Both the woman and the current boyfriend were taken to the police department. Charges are pending.

The uncle of the infant was also detained by police but released without being charged.
