Former Teen Star Charged with Felony DUI

Authorities in New York said in a statement that former teen heartthrob David Cassidy has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Cassidy, who played Keith Partridge on TV’s “Partridge Family”, was pulled over in upstate New York after having failed to dim his head lights. Cassidy was charged with DWI failing to dim his headlights. He was later charged with DWI after tests showed his blood-alcohol content was at .10, a level that is higher than the state’s legal limit which is set at .08. He was arrested by Schodack, New York Police Department officers just after midnight Wednesday just 10 miles south of Albany.

The charge against Cassidy is a felony because of a 2011 conviction in the state of Florida for driving under the influence. In late 2010 he was arrested for DUI in Florida. A few months later, he pleaded no contest to the charge. Cassidy’s driving privileges were suspended for six months and he was on probation for a year.

Cassidy currently lives in Fort Lauderdale, however has been staying in upstate New York for a racing meet in Saratoga.

The 63-year-old star is currently free on $2,500 bail. Cassidy is due to appear in court in Schodack Town on September 4th.

A representative for Cassidy could not be reached for comment.
