Driver Responsible For Accident Causing Injuries Found And Arrested

A man suspected of drinking and driving has been arrested after an incident that happened earlier this month, leaving a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol in the Hospital.

CBS Local in Miami reported on its website that the crash happened on Sunday, September 22nd along State Road 7, north of 191st Street at approximately 4:25 a.m. Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Carl Vincent was investigating a previous crash when he was hit.

The Florida Highway Patrol issued a statement saying that Trooper Vincent was inside his patrol cruiser which was parked to block the outside the left lane of State Road 7 when a black Chrysler sedan rammed into his vehicle and then collided with a light pole on the sidewalk along the street.

Additional units from the FHP responded to the scene of the crash. Emergency crews transported Trooper Vincent to Aventura Hospital. He reportedly suffered only minor injuries and is expected to be o.k.

The driver of the black Chrysler Sedan has been identified as Jason Murray, 34. Murray was placed under arrest at the scene and was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Murray is currently facing the charge of DUI, causing damage to property or person.

A Miami-Dade judge set Murray’s bond at $1,000. Authorities have not said when Murray is due to appear in court.
