Bar Fight Ends in Injuires, Court Battle

Two patrons who were arrested after a fight at a South Florida sports bar have hired attorneys.

The fight broke out following an argument between two customers and bouncers at Dirty Blondes Sports Bar, located along Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard. Video posted by a witness on Instagram shows the pair being punched and thrown to the ground by two men wearing “security” shirts.

Customers Alexander Coelho and David Parker have bonded out of jail and have since hired an attorney.

The bar posted a statement on its Facebook on Monday, saying in part: “While we do not condone the actions displayed in the 15-second video circulating, no further statements on what led up to, during or after the incident until we review the matter internally with all parties involved.”

It is not unresonable to expect to go to a local bar and have a drink by yourself or with friends without incident. Owners of bars, restaurants and other business properties that serve alcohol to the public are responsible for protecting their clientele from assault and injuries caused by unruly or drunk customers. They and their staff are accountable for providing their patrons with a place that is safe. Bouncers and other staff are there to keep order, however sometimes things can go wrong or get out of hand. In the heat of the moment, the safety of everyone might be overlooked in order to try and bring order back to the situation. Patrons, employees or those who are just in the wrong place at the wrong time can become injured in altercations that can happen in the blink of an eye.

If you or a loved one has been beaten up or injured in a drinking establishment or restaurant, it doesn’t matter if the injuries came from another patron of the establishment or by a member of the staff, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries. Medical costs, physical therapy or even lost time from work, pain and suffering can all be a factor in your costs. Give our offices a call and we will match with an attorney that can go over the details of your case with you. They will then give you options that you can pursue that may get you the compensation you are entitled. An initial consultation with one of our lawyers is confidential and without cost or obligation to you.
