Motorcycle Chase Ends in Crash
We’ve all seen high-speed chases on television and in movies. Such events may look exciting but the reality is in real life they can be extremely dangerous or even deadly for those who are anywhere nearby.
Two men are now in custody following a motorcycle chase that they had with police Tuesday morning. The chase began in Homestead at approximately 10:00 a.m. when police attempted to stop two motorcyclists on racing-style motorcycles. One of the motorcycles had been reported stolen.
The two took off from the stop and two motorcyclists weaved in and out of traffic for nearly 30 miles, traveling at speeds estimated to be around 100 m.p.h. with police in pursuit.
One of the cyclists crashed into a police car, spilled his motorcycle on the pavement and was apprehended.
Authorities say that the second motorcyclist continued into southwest Miami-Dade with the stolen vehicle and eventually pulled into a parking spot. The motorcyclist then jumped a wall and a fence . A police helicopter assisted the officers on the ground until he was apprehended.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash or the police pursuit.
