Hit and Run Driver Kills Pedestrian

Miami Police have reported that a pedestrian has been killed after having been struck by a hit-and-run driver on Thursday.

According to a spokesperson with the Miami Police Department, the accident happened at approximately 11:45 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest 79th Street and Northwest First Avenue.

Police say that so far investigators believe that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Northwest 79th Street from south to north when a westbound vehicle struck him and fled the scene of the fatal accident.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released by authorities, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. The victim was initially listed in extremely critical condition, but died shortly after his arrival at the hospital.

So far investigators do not have a description of the vehicle or the driver. The investigation is ongoing.
