Every year, there are thousands of truck accidents that result in injury or death. Accidents can be caused by factors such as driver error or fatigue, poor road conditions, equipment failure or maintenance issues, driver distraction or even just having a poorly trained or inexperienced driver behind the wheel can cause accidents and lead to injuries of those on the public transit vehicle or others who are nearby.
Heavy trucks such as garbage, dump trucks or other large vehicles often can weigh as much as 80,000 pound, or roughly some 40 tons! Hazardous materials such as propane, petrol and other potential dangerous substances are often transported by these large trucks as well as the vast amounts of fuel that they must have on board to make their long distance runs. All of these factors increase potential dangers for other drivers who may be sharing the road with a big rig. Driver experience plays a crucial role in avoiding potentially hazardous situations. Even with experienced truck drivers, accidents can happen.
