Closure: After More Than 8 Years
It has been over eight years but finally the woman who killed Peter Cambra in 2005 has been sentenced for her crime.
A sentence of six years imprisonment has been handed down to Richen Turner, a forty five year old citizen of the UK, in a Broward court Thursday. In 2005 Turner had run a red light, struck and killed Peter Cambra and was found to have a blood alcohol level that was three times over the legal limit. She later fled to her home in the UK, but was eventually returned to South Florida for trial. Relatives of Peter Cambra, including his son and sister, spoke at the sentencing making emotional reference to both their loss and the elapsed time between the fatal accident and sentencing. Turner has been credited with the five hundred days she has already spent in jail.
