Police Search For Hit And Run Driver Responsible For Fatal Accident In Miami

A bicyclist has been struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash that happened in Northwest Miami-Dade on Tuesday Night.  Authorities are still searching for the driver responsible for the fatal accident.

NBC Miami reported on their website that the man who was killed has been identified by authorities as Charles Taylor, 55.  Taylor had been crossing the street in the 12500 block of Northwest 17th Avenue when he was struck by a pickup truck that has been described as a red pickup truck, possibly a Ford F150.

One witness who heard the crash was a friend of the victim who indicated that Taylor had gone to a nearby convenience store to buy a pack of cigarettes before crossing the street. The friend reported hearing a loud boom and realizing Taylor had been struck.

Taylor’s friend and others in the vicinity pulled Taylor out of the busy street. Eyewitnesses say that the driver of the truck got out and looked at the scene, then got back into his vehicle and fled.

Miami-Dade law enforcement officials are looking to the public for help in finding the hit-and-run-driver that was responsible for the fatal crash. We hope that the person responsible is caught and brought to justice. Fleeing the scene of an accident is a sure way to get the guilt for a crash pinned on you.
