Broward County Officer Laid to Rest after Accident

A deputy from Broward County Sheriff’s Office who was tragically killed in an accident was laid to his final rest on Friday.

On September 11th, 32-year-old Daniel Rivera, a 10-year veteran of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, was injured in a horrific car crash while on his commute to work. Rivera somehow lost control of his cruiser. His vehicle ended up wrapped around a tree.

Rivera passed away last Saturday.  The cause of the accident has not been determined.

Rivera’s Last Call, being declared out of service and a prayer, was broadcast over the radios earlier Friday: “The men and women of BSO request a moment of silence as we remember the life, service and sacrifice of Deputy Daniel Rivera. Deputy Daniel Rivera, may the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sunshine warm upon your face and the rain fall flat upon your heels. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hands. Rest in Peace now, brother. May you walk with me on heaven’s streets. We’ll keep your watch here. Deputy Daniel Rivera uniform 12279 is 10-7.”

Deputy Rivera worked at the Pompano Branch of the Sheriff’s office. He is survived by his son, his fiance, and his mother and father.
