Trolley Jumps Curb, Crashes Into Garage

A trolley was involved in an accident with two other cars in Ft. Lauderdale Wednesday night. The accident occurred between the 550 and 600 block of Sea Breeze Blvd at approximately 6:40 p.m. Local police cited the trolley operator for Sun Trolley, Jacquelin Ducatel, 52, with failure to use due care in changing lanes.

According to eyewitnesses, the trolley had started drifting from its lane into another. The trolley jumped a curb, colliding with a white SUV and rear-ending another vehicle before running the trolley into a parking garage located near the beach.

Jacquelin Ducatel, 52, was the trolley operator during the crash that happened at 550 Seabreeze Blvd. about 6:40 p.m., officials said.

A publicist working for the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Management Association that manages Sun Trolleys, Laurie Menekou, said in a statement that Ducatel and four of the passengers who were riding on his trolley were taken to a hospital, for minor injuries. All were treated and released Wednesday night.

The names of the other drivers and any passengers involved in the accident and their conditions had not been released as of Thursday.
