Pedestrian Flies Through Air after Accident
The driver of an SUV was taken into custody after striking a pedestrian Wednesday morning. According to police, the accident happened just before 7:00 a.m. along Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 14th Street. Investigators report that the pedestrian was crossing Biscayne Boulevard when he was struck by a Porsche SUV.
Authorities are not certain whether the person was crossing the street in the crosswalk or jaywalking. Investigators do say, however, that the force of the impact sent the pedestrian flying into the air. A backpack and an umbrella belonging to the pedestrian were left behind in the street.
The pedestrian was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and is listed in serious condition.
