One Person Dies In House Fire

A house fire that raged in a home in a residential area in Homestead has stunned area neighbors and left one person dead.

CBS Local in Miami reports that the fatal blaze happened on NW 18th Street on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 10, just after 1:00 p.m.

Firefighters with the Homestead Fire Department rushed to the scene and were able to get the fire under control.  Unfortunately, one person who was inside the home was reported to have died in the fire.

Sandra Nesbitt, who lives nearby, tearfully told CBS reporters that the neighborhood has suffered a devastating loss, stating she and others will be there to offer support wherever possible to the victim’s family.

“The outpour will be amazing because he (the victim) has always been there for the community. I know everyone is going to wrap their arms around him,” Nesbitt said. “It’s heartbreaking when it hits so close to home.”

Because the fire’s cause is still unknown and someone died, homicide detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department are also looking into the circumstances surrounding the blaze.

The name of the victim in the officials had not been released by officials at the time of the report.

So far, Homestead fire investigators still don’t know what caused the fire.

The incident is still currently under investigation.
