Officer Injured In Overnight Crash
It’s no secret that anyone can be hurt in an accident at any time – including those brave men and women who are there to help ensure the public safe.
Such a scenario unfolded in Miami when a police officer was injured in an accident that happened in North Miami Beach Thursday, August 9th. According to a story appearing on the CBS Miami local website, the crash happened at the intersection of Northeast 163rd Street and 26th Avenue in the early morning hours.
Authorities say that officer Abigail Mary was in her police cruiser with her lights on alerting motorists to construction going on in the area when she was rear-ended by another driver who was traveling west on Northeast 163rd Street and ran the stop sign.
Sgt. Juan Pinillos spokesperson for the North Miami Police Department, said that the injured officer was taken to Aventura Hospital to be treated for minor injuries and was later released.
The driver in the other car that rear ended the police cruiser, however, was also transported to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries they sustained in the crash.
The driver’s identity has not released and no charges have been filed at this time.
