Fatal Off-Road Crash Into A Pole Sets Car On Fire

One person is dead after a violent crash and car fire in Miami-Dade County along the South Dixie Highway on Friday.

WPLG Local 10 reported that the three-vehicle crash happened on Friday, September 18th, at approximately 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Southwest 232nd Street and South Dixie Highway.

Authorities say that one of the vehicles involved in the crash was a black Ford Mustang and a red pickup truck.  The force of the collision sent the Mustang off the road and into a utility pole where it caught fire. The driver of the smaller vehicle was reported to have died at the scene of the crash.  Officials have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of family members.

The Sky 10 helicopter was over the scene of the fatal crash, which showed a debris field that was scattered across U.S. Highway 1 and Southwest 232nrd Street.

The driver of the red pickup truck, Lennox Loyd Bogle, told WPLG reporter, Ian Margol, that he was attempting a left turn from Southbound U.S. Highway 1 onto 127th Avenue as the driver of the Mustang was heading Northbound at a high rate of speed.

The fatal crash is being investigated by both police and the Florida Highway Patrol.  So far, investigators have not determined what driver may have been at fault in the accident.
