Electrical Fire Leaves Many Homeless
A fire ripped through a Miramar apartment building on Monday morning that has left two families homeless.
The blaze started in one unit at an apartment complex at the 6300 block of Southwest 27th Avenue at about 9 a.m. The fire then quickly spread to four neighboring apartments in the building.
It took approximately one hour for fire fighters to bring the blaze under control and put it out. According to initial investigations by the Miramar Fire & Rescue, the cause of the fire was most likely accidental and possibly electrical in nature.
No injuries were reported as a result, however, a dog that lived in the unit where the fire started died.
The Miramar Fire Department said in a statement that two units were heavily damaged and the residents will have to find another place to live.
