Drunk Ambulance Driver Collides with Truck
In a national story, an ambulance driver has been accused of drunk driving after he ran a red light with his ambulance and smashed into another driver with the siren blaring. Police say that the driver’s BAC was more than three times the legal limit at .271. Prosecutors have brought in witnesses to the crime who testified in the initial hearing. After the crash, the ambulance driver stayed in his vehicle and didn’t’ stop to render aid according to officials. He only got out when a second ambulance came to pick him up.
Other pieces of evidence against him include a call to his partner, who reported that his voice sounded slurred. Thankfully there were no other people in the ambulance at the time. Prosecutors estimate that he was going around 40 MPH at the time of the impact. Witnesses at the scene extracted the other driver and kept him warm.
