Crash On Northwest 103rd Kills Teen, Mother Critically Injured

An accident on Interstate 95 last week in Northwest Miami-Dade County has taken the life of a 15- year old boy and left his mother critically injured

WSVN Channel 7 in Miami reported that the accident happened at Northwest 103rd Street at around 12:300 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17th.

Investigators say that the mother and the teen were traveling on the Interstate in a black Nissan Sedan when their vehicle was struck by a White Dodge Challenger traveling at a high rate of speed while the sedan was stopped on the left shoulder of the southbound express lane.

The force of the impact sent the Challenger across six lanes of traffic and into a concrete dividing wall.

A Good Samaritan attempted to free the mother and her son from the wreckage of their vehicle. Law enforcement officers and emergency crews from the Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene to free mother and son from their mangled vehicle.

By the time rescuers arrived and were able to free the teen, teen, who was sitting near the back seat of the vehicle at the time of the crash, his pulse was already very weak.

Both the boy and his mother were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The teen was pronounced dead while the mother is listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Challenger was having seizures just before the crash. She is also at Jackson Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time.
