Car Accident Turns Into Homicide Investigation After Bullet Wounds Are Discovered

A woman has died immediately following a traffic crash that happened in Pompano Beach early Saturday morning.  In what appeared to be a single-car crash, rescuers found that the woman had suffered multiple gunshot wounds before the accident. 

NBC Miami reports that on Sunday, August 16th,  deputies from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a crash in the 2900 block of Northwest 27th Avenue at approximately 3:20 a.m. 

When deputies arrived at the scene,  they found a female victim in the vehicle who appeared to be suffering from injuries sustained in the crash.  The victim was transported to North Broward Health by paramedics with Pompano Beach Fire and Rescue. Upon her arrival at the trauma center, doctors and emergency staff found that the woman had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. 

Despite lifesaving efforts,  the woman died a short time after arriving at the hospital. 

Detectives with the Pompano Beach Police Department and the Broward County Sheriff’s office believe that the woman was involved in the accident and then was shot by an unknown suspect following the crash.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Crime Scene Units are treating the incident as a homicide.
