A Young Boy Is In Critical Condition After Being Hit By A Truck. The Driver Is Still At Large.
It seems unconscionable that anyone would hit a child and then callously drive away. According to a report appearing on the NBC Miami website, however, a hit-and-run crash in Miami last week has left a 12-year-old boy critically injured.
A spokesperson for the Miami Police Department said in a statement that the hit-and-run crash happened on Tuesday, March 31st at approximately 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest 14th Avenue and 42nd Street.
The hit-and-run crash was captured on camera and the video footage was taken from a nearby home security system. The video of the incident also shows residents in the neighborhood attempting to render aid to the boy after he was struck by a pickup truck.
The truck was recorded having hit the boy and fleeing the scene. However, more information is needed in order to find the truck.
Emergency crews from Miami Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and then transported the child to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. At the time of the report, the boy was still listed in critical condition.
Detectives with the Miami Police Department are searching for the suspect driver and the pickup truck. Authorities say that the truck will likely have suffered significant front end damage following the crash.
Anyone with any information is being asked to call the Miami-Dade Crimestoppers hotline at (305) 471-TIPS.
