Two Dead After Apartment Complex Fire

Two people are dead and two firefighters are injured after a fire at a SoBe apartment complex broke out early Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the St. George apartment building located at the corner of 6th Street and Euclid Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. An elderly woman and a man who lived on the adjacent floor above were both found dead in their apartments. A dog belonging to the man on the second floor was also found dead at the scene.

During the efforts to extinguish the blaze, two firefighters were also injured. One was hospitalized but is listed in stable condition.

Approximately a dozen residents who also lived in the building are now displaced. Currently, they are receiving assistance from the South Florida Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
