Special Fund Released for Victims of Pulse Shootings

After an accident or act of violence, families are often left with the difficult task of picking up the pieces once again.

During the summer on June 12th, Gunman Omar Mateen opened fire at the Pulse nightclub. The rampage left 49 victims dead and 53 wounded. The incident is now the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

For the victims and the families of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, there may be some relief in sight. The OneOrlando Fund voted unanimously to begin the distribution of approximately $29.5 million dollars to 299 claimants.

In a press release, the non-profit organization’s board approved the final distribution of the funds. Claimants were divided into four categories; deceased, injured with hospitalization, injured with outpatient treatment and present inside Pulse.

The funds raised by OneOrlando came from nearly 150,000 individuals that hail from 120 countries. Payments are set to begin on Tuesday and are expected to be completed by Friday.
