Head-On Collision Leaves Teen And Grandmother Dead

Head-on collisions are rather rare, and thankfully so. The damage caused by a head-on collision is far greater than in other kinds of crashes. Fatalities are common, as in this case from Deerfield Beach reported by NBC Miami.

A teen and her grandmother are dead and three others are injured after an accident that happened over the weekend. The Broward Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened on Saturday evening in the 4300 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard.

The teen was driving a Nissan Altima when the driver of a Dodge Avenger crossed the raised center median and drove head-on into traffic. The Altima and two other vehicles were hit.

The teen and her grandmother, who was also in the vehicle, were dead at the scene of the crash. A third person riding in the vehicle was hospitalized. The driver of the oncoming vehicle, alleged to be 21-year-old Andrea Schneider, was also sent to the hospital, along with the driver of another of the involved cars. All others involved in the incident denied medical treatment.

Initial investigation shows that the car at fault was speeding when it hit the median. It is unknown whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.
