Conflicting Testimony on Failure to Render Aid Case

After hearing conflicting testimony and a closed door session with a Pinecrest Officer accused of failing to render aid at the scene of an accident, there was still no decision regarding Officer Ana Carrasco.

Officer Carrasco has been accused of failing to render aid at the scene of an accident last October, in which two University of Miami students were struck while attempting to cross Kendel Drive. Both Ying Chen, 27, and Hao Liu, 26 died as a result of their injuries. An internal review found that Officer Carrasco failed to render aid as required by law, yet testimony from both Officer Carrasco and a witness at scene run counter to these findings. The Wednesday hearing which was supposed to render a decision as to the status of Carrasco’s employ concluded with no answers forth coming.
