Child Loses Hand in Firework Accident
Kids are cruel. Sometimes, they don’t think about the consequences of something before they do it, landing others to a lot more pain and suffering than was originally anticipated. This was just the case for Javonte McNair of Ft. Lauderdale.
Javonte was riding on his bike, going to a friend’s house and otherwise enjoying the day. Some of the kids decided that it would be an excellent time to throw a firework at him. To the other kids, it was just a joke, a prank. It definitely didn’t end up being a joke or prank when Javonte ended up losing his hand as a result of it.
He tried to put his hand up to deflect the firework and it went off, severing his hand. It was damaged to the point where it wasn’t able to be reattached. Some of the material got into his eye, injuring that – though after surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Javonte is expected to at least recover some function there.
There were other boys who also received some injuries. Javonte’s got some help on his side in the form of a Big Brother. Tony McHatton has Javonte’s back, setting up a gofundme page and is providing support as best as he can.
